Looking towards to the 2020/2021 Season
Event Crew May update – all-new operating guidelines and super tiered pricing to welcome you back to the starting line!
We hope you are staying safe and strong through this period of COVID-19 restrictions. Whether it’s training at home or staying local, we hope you have been able to maintain start line fitness.
The COVID-19 situation has majorly impacted our event family being staff, contractors, suppliers, volunteer groups and valued sponsors and stakeholders. Like many, we have been operating with great uncertainty about what the year will look for the team and as frustrating as it has been we’ve just had to wait to see exactly when restrictions will ease and allow us to operate again. We really look forward to being able to return and get back to delivering quality local events for you. Fingers crossed we will gain some clarity around that in the next few weeks.
We’ve been extremely grateful for the support of the triathlon community, thank you for the ongoing support. A special thank you to the majority of our audience who have remained registered as we wait to confirm our event dates in September and October. Our website is updated and event manuals have been updated to this point. We are privileged that we have excellent stakeholders that we have worked with for over 8 -years now and who continue to support us in every way possible. We are fortunate that we have funding and sponsorship in place that will help us cover some of the costs for our early season events.
What we need to be able to do now is reasonably estimate participant numbers for upcoming events, especially the early season events and we want to support our loyal participants back to the starting line. This season we are offering an all-new super tiered pricing to kick things off. Be in the first 200 to enter any event and pay just 60%, be in the next 200 and pay only 80%. If you have retained a paid entry you will be eligible for a voucher for any difference above these new tiered prices just contact us via email to request this. This offer will also extend across all events in our 20-21 season. We hope this new super pricing and the flexibility this provides encourages you to commit to some events.
We fully expect to have to modify our operations to minimise risk around COVID-19 transmission and we have already developed safety measures which are ready to be implemented. Measures include smaller wave starts and rolling starts, smaller field sizes, online post-race prize giving, staggered transition entry, bike collection and we’ll need our participants to be understanding around things like limiting spectators and so forth. We will communicate these impacts prior to each event in our pre-event communications and within the online event manual.
We plan to provide further updates over the next few weeks and hope to launch the 20-21 season once we get that clarity around September/October events.
